WENDY CABRERA + MANUEL DELGADO PLAZOLA

Wendy Cabrera Rubio works with historical materials to create a theatrical space that explores the relationship between aesthetics and ideology in the production of images. Her pioneering approach involves the use of synthetic felt, a common material in domestic economies, to question and connect the past with the present. She has exhibited in various museums and galleries in Mexico and abroad. In addition to her artistic work, she actively participates in community and curatorial projects, contributing to the contemporary art world in different ways.

Manuel Delgado Plazola is a scenic artist, playwright and Mexican teacher graduated from UNAM. He develops community art projects with migrants and people deprived of liberty. He researches cultural representations of otherness, gender, racism, the monstrous and discourses of exclusion in art and education. He has developed multicultural projects in Mexico, U.S.A., France and Ecuador.

Wendy Cabrera and Manuel Delgado Plazola, in collaboration with other artists, curators and designers, carried out a series of workshops for the children of Casa Cuna La Paz to explore and experiment with different materials and textures through the senses. The children had the opportunity to re-signify everyday elements, giving them a space to listen and express themselves, inviting them to create their own discourses. During Wendy Cabrera and Manuel Delgado's residency at CASACUNA, we explored the identification of emotions through visual references, reinforcing the handling and management of emotions in children.
