The work carried out with the girls and boys at Casa Cuna La Paz focused on the subject and its transformation. Art builds on this principle, whether it is blowing through a trumpet, using the body to accentuate or making a movement, by making poetry and giving deeper meaning to words. In particular, the visual arts work with matter. They are just one step away from alchemy. This is why we decided to use the elements Air, Earth, Fire and Water, as the guiding axis in the work done with children. In addition, some work sessions included bodywork and some Zen stories.

Session 1:

For the first session in order to get to know each other better, Sebastián gave us an experiment that became a slime dough that everyone could take home to continue playing with.

Session 2:

In this session we played with space and teamwork using cardboard boxes. Boys and girls played with them making castles, giant tunnels, trains and beds.

Session 3:

After the first two introductory sessions to the material, we began to work with the first element of the program: air. We built paper planes and experimented with different elements to make a giant soap bubble.

Session 4:

For this session the element we worked with was earth. First with terracotta, each one of the girls and boys made a pot for a small plant, which they had to take care of.

Session 5:

In this session, the element we worked on was water and its different states. For this occasion, we had an ice sculptor perform different forms such as a butterfly, a bird and a star at Casa Cuna La Paz. After the children built castles and a many shapes with crushed ice.

Session 6:

For the last session and with the last element, fire, we recreated a bonfire with which we would use our imagination to “burn” chocolates, marshmallows and tell scary stories.
