CASACUNA is an educational project carried out since 2017, by Ruta del CASTOR. The program uses contemporary art as a pedagogical tool and consists of research with workshops and activities to enrich links between cultural agents and the community of the Casa Cuna La Paz orphanage. With the aim of promoting emotional, creative skills and healthy affective bonds for the girls and boys and the caretakers of this community.

Support for the Casa Cuna La Paz community focuses on socialization, the expression of emotions and self-esteem. Through a process of knowledge about the needs and characteristics of this particular community, the program consists of developing a training laboratory together with invited artists with the intention of generating new stimulating experiences for their creativity and imagination, promoting a space for socialization focused on the development of these indicators:
  • Limits and containment.

  • Expression of emotions, free from violence.

  • Formation of self-esteem that allows taking care of yourself and others.


This program does not intend to offer classes to learn to paint or know about art history, but rather facilitate art and creativity as cognitive instruments in us and of our surroundings, with values ​​of coexistence, integration, tolerance and respect for others. and yourself.

About Casa Cuna La Paz

Casa Cuna La Paz was founded on April 1907 by Elisa Margarita Berruecos y Juvera, whose objective, since its inception, was to offer asylum to all children who suffer morally or materially, without distinction of social class. Today its mission is to welcome, care for and fully educate abandoned orphaned girls and boys from dysfunctional homes in precarious situations and disintegrated families, providing care, education, food, shelter and clothing. Currently serving 98 boys and girls from three months to six years of age, Casa Cuna La Paz provides comprehensive education: home, food, recreation, medical services, school education, promotion of psychomotor, psychosocial development, acquisition of habits, and training of human values.
